Writing Practice

WRITING PRACTICE

Writing practice sheets can be created for students to practice writing their name and/or sight words. Step by step instructions can be found below.

Select Writing Practice under Student Activities and then select Name Writing or Sight Words to get started.

NAME WRITING TEMPLATE

  1. Choose the students to create a practice sheet for by selecting options under Classes, Groups and Students.
    1. Classes: If there is more than one class, select the class.
    2. Groups: Will display All Groups if there are no groups created for the class selected. If applicable, select All Groups or an individual group.
    3. Students: Will default to All Students for the class/group selection. Uncheck any students that will not be included.
    4. Click on the right arrow to continue.
  2. Select the settings for your print-out.
    1. Name Format: First Name or First and Last Name.
    2. Font Size (3 options)
      1. 30pt
      2. 40pt
      3. 62pt
    3. Font Style: preset to Trace with guidelines, no options available
    4. Copies: Select number of copies needed per student
    5. Students: Will display the number of students that were selected
    6. Total pages: will display the number of students times the number of copies
    7. A preview of the first page will be displayed on the right. 
    8. Select Preview to see all of the pages that will be included in the download.
    9. Select Download
    10. The name practice sheets will be downloaded to a PDF format and can be printed.
    11. You can arrow back to create another set of Name Writing practice sheets, or select Finish if you are done.

 

SIGHT WORDS TEMPLATE

  1. Choose the students to create a practice sheet for by selecting options under Classes, Groups and Students.
    1. Classes: If there is more than one class, select the class.
    2. Groups: Will display All Groups if there are no groups created for the class selected. If applicable, select All Groups or an individual group.
    3. Students: Will default to All students for the class/group selection. Uncheck any students that will not be included.
    4. Click on the right arrow to continue.

 

  1. Select a Sight Words test to automatically generate a template
    1. Only tests that include the following in the test name or description will populate in the list:
      1. Sight Words
      2. Sight Word
      3. Sights Word
      4. Sights Words
      5. SW List
      6. SW Lists
      7. High Frequency
    2. The Sight Words test must be a Yes/No format (rubric and single score tests will not populate)
    3. The test content area cannot be Math, Science or Social Studies.
    4. The following keywords, if found in the test name or description, will also not populate:
      1. CVC
      2. CVCs
      3. Observations
      4. Observation
      5. Observes
      6. Observe
    5. Select your test (only one test can be selected at a time) and click on the right arrow to continue.

 

  1. Select the settings for your printout.
    1. Font Size (3 options)
      1. 30pt
      2. 40pt
      3. 62pt
    2. Font Style: preset to Trace with guidelines, no options available
    3. Copies: Select number of copies needed per student
    4. Students: Will display the number of students that were selected
    5. Total pages: will display the number of students times the number of copies
    6. A preview of the first page will be displayed on the right. 
    7. Select Edit Sight Words if any words are to be excluded from the practice sheet.
    8. Select Download
    9. The Sight Words practice sheets will be downloaded to a PDF format and can be printed.
    10. You can arrow back to create another set of Sight Word practice sheets, or select Finish if you are done.
