The following widgets are available and fully customizable within our new ESGI Admin Dashboard:
Demographic Performance Widget
District Performance Widget
Students Needing Support Widget
You can make edits to the widgets which you have added to your dashboard (see our Admin Dashboard article to learn how to do this) by clicking the edit widget icon at the top left of the widget you wish to change.
From the Edit Widget view, you can rename your widget by double clicking on the widget’s name field, typing your desired name, and then clicking “Save” Please note, customizing these titles is going to be very important as the dashboard fills up because it helps differentiate 1 widget or data set from another.
District Performance Widget
The District Performance Widget focuses on student performance per test at the school level. Data shown in this widget is highly customizable and can be filtered by grade level, subject tab, and content area. The data can also be displayed as a comparison between two date ranges and/or between two schools.
This widget’s data can be represented as either boxplots or pie charts and can be displayed in the default view or full size view as seen below:
Box Plots:
Box Plots let you see the median of the Last Session Result for each student falling within the set parameters. You can select to see the data of a single period or two periods. You also have the option to highlight the candles and show all school averages.
Once generated, the box plot indicates quartile distribution with the median score shown as the circular data point.
To start, filter by the schools, content area, subject tabs, and grade levels that you would like to focus on, please click on their corresponding drop-down, click on the specific entities that you would like to select (as indicated by the blue highlighting), then click on the “Select” button at the top right of the drop-down menu. You’ll also have the option to select/ deselect all options at once using the “Select All” button.

Next, choose whether you want your box plot to focus on a single period or two periods by clicking on its associated button.
Once chosen you will have the option to select the Date Range. By default, this always selects ”Current Marking Period”, however, it can be changed by clicking on the drop-down and selecting your desired date range by either past or current dates, or by inputting your own custom dates (as represented by the calendar icon to the right of ”Current”.)
The “Highlight Candles” option allows users to set a threshold score for data in the widget. If a school’s score is above this cutoff score, it is highlighted in the color the user chooses in the Highlight If Above section. This provides comparative analysis of data between schools, visibility into school achievement at a glance, and allows users to create multiple widgets with differing thresholds/cutoff scores for a quick glance at mastery levels. It can be toggled by checking the checkbox.
You can change the Percentage threshold that you would like to highlight by clicking on the “Highlight If Above” field and typing in your desired percentage threshold.
You can change the highlighted color by clicking on the drop-down menu and picking your desired color.
The “Show All Schools Average” checkbox shows a single line on the widget which clearly indicates the average of all schools for the parameters selected. This allows you to quickly compare individual schools against the district’s overall performance and provides a simple view of average performance data as a point of comparison.
Once all your selections have been made, you can apply your customizations by clicking on the ”Save” button at the top-right of the widget.
Your box plots will generate and show all of the selected data:
Your median scores will be represented by the circles on each of the box plots. As you can see, only the final box plot has color highlighting, since its median is at or above the 70% threshold from earlier.
Clicking on any of the box plots will change the Y-Axis numbers to reflect that specific box plot’s quartile distribution
If you would like for your box plot to focus on two periods, click on the “Two Periods” button.
You will have all the same Date Range filtering options, as well as the checkbox to ”Show All Schools Average”, however, with ”Two Periods” selected, you will no longer have the option to highlight the candles, and, instead, you will only be able to color the box plots associated with the specific Data Range which you set.
Once you’ve configured your selections for Two Periods, click on the ”Save” button at the top-right of the widget.
Your two period box plots will now be displayed on the widget, with the median being indicated by the circle on each box plot, and the average being indicated by the blue line going across the screen. Please note, the order in which the box plots are displayed corresponds to the order that you’ve configured each date range in.
Just like with single period being selected, clicking on any of the double period box plots will also change the Y-Axis numbers to reflect that specific box plot’s quartile distribution.
The change in median percentage is also indicated below any box plots where there is a difference.
Pie Charts:
Pie Charts let you see the average of the Last Session Result for each student falling within the set parameters. However, with pie charts, you cannot select to see the data of a single period or two periods, nor highlight the candles. You can, however, still show all school averages.
To start, choose ”Pie Charts” from the customize widget window, and begin filtering the schools, content area, subject tabs, and grade levels that you would like to focus on by clicking on their corresponding drop-downs.This can be done by clicking on the specific entities that you would like to select (as indicated by the blue highlighting), then clicking on the “Select” button at the top right of the drop-down menu. You’ll also have the option to select/ deselect all options at once using the “Select All” button.

Once your areas of focus are configured, you can then set up your desired date range by clicking on the ”Date Range” dropdown. The date range dropdown allows you to select current or past dates, as well as giving you the option to enter your own custom time frame (as indicated by the calendar icon to the right of ”Current”.)
Lastly, you can select whether you’d like to include the all schools average to your pie chart by checking the “Show All Schools Average” checkbox. Hovering over the information icon to the right of the checkbox will give you additional information about this.
Once you are finished customizing, click on the ”Save” button located at the top right of the widget to generate your pie charts.
Your pie charts will now be displayed on the widget, reflecting the areas of focus that were configured earlier. The average for all schools is represented by the blue pie chart, while the outer pie chart represents the schools that you've selected. If your selected schools are performing higher than the all schools average, the outer circle will be green, while if your selected schools are performing lower than the all schools average, the outer circle will be gray. The percentage difference will be displayed in the center of the pie charts.
